The Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki is one of the newest, yet most interesting museums of the city because of its unique theme and exhibits.
It first opened its doors in 1998 as the “Athletic Museum of Thessaloniki”. After its official recognition by the International Olympic Committee in 2008 the museum was given its current name. It is the only Olympic Sports Museum in Greece today.
The museum was initially housed in the center of the city in a building provided by the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE). In 2004 during the Athens Olympics it moved to new, modern facilities that were specifically designed from the beginning to cover its needs.
It is located near the Kaftatzoglio Stadium in the wider area of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
