If you rent a car in Thessaloniki you’ll have the chance to enjoy the city’s best attractions while you will be able to visit several other places and beautiful nearby cities as well.

For instance, the biggest shopping mall, Mediterranean Cosmos is just 15 minute drive from the city Centre. There is a bus connection of course but using a car you will gain time and convenience.

If you visit Thessaloniki during the summer you should definitely visit the unique Mediterranean beaches of Chalkidiki. These beaches are not as famous as others in Greece but, believe it or not, they have nothing to be jealous of.

Parking is a major issue in Thessaloniki as the traffic here is considered heavy. If you are using a car, make sure that your hotel or apartment provides private parking. In the Centre of the city there are many parking slots on payment (around 4€ per hour for the first hour and 4 to 2 each next).

Parking is allowed during shopping hours, provided you have bought a ticket from a ticket stand.

We recommend that you use public transportation to visit the Centre of the city.
