Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art

The Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art was established in 1979. The core of the collection is Alexandros Iolas’s donation of 30 works by internationally acclaimed artists.

The collection includes new donations, both from major collectors, such as Franz Geierhaas, and several other artists.

This museum houses more than 2,000 works of painting, sculpture, engraving, and photography by Greek and foreign artists, such as Zouni, Mytaras, Fassianos, Delacroix, Emo, Raynaud, Skourtis, Vakalo, Moraïti, Moralis and more.

Several permanent, temporary or touring exhibitons are hosted in the museum. They include works of both young and renownd artists from all over the world.

Many publications are available to the public related to contemporary art like painting, sculpture, photography and also monographs by Greek artists and major movements of the 20th century.

The visitors will also have the chance to find a limited number of copies of small art objects from artists like Picasso, Fasianos, Mytaras, Modigliani and many others.

  • The shop located inside the museum also offers jewellery and other decorating gifts. On the ground floor there is a cafe that will give you the oppurtunity to relax while it is a meeting point for the members, friends or visitors of the museum.
  • Like the majority of the most important museums it is located in the center of the city inside the area that belongs to the International Trade Fair. A beautiful museum that will be appreciated by all the friends of modern art.
